My Story:  I wrote a Guest Column in my local paper on Kennesaw's "Gun Law" which went viral on both sides of the issue.  I like the ordinance, but am not an elected official nor am I currently serving/wanting to be on any committee with my community.  I first studied the Kennesaw "Gun Law" as a criminal justice student then later living adjacent to the community for two years.  I doubt it will be pursued by the majority of my community's leadership (but would probably pass in a ballot referendum).  I am not amazed by the dichotomy of those who "get it" and those who do not, but what does surprise me is that some folks just do not want to even have the conversation about it especially in light of its benefits.   I am not advocating for the passage of the Kennesaw "Gun Law" in my community beyond my Guest Column, but do hope this website can serve you in your community.--- BILL JOHNS, MBA, MPA

Simply, I am one of the few in the country that holds accredited graduate degrees in both business (MBA) and public (MPA) administration along with an undergraduate degree focusing on political science, criminal justice & criminology, and public administration.   As a criminal justice student, I conducted "ride-a-longs" throughout Memphis, took forensic sciences from Dr. Hugh Berryman, an early student of Dr. Bill Bass, and even debated Sarah Brady of Handgun Control, Inc. at a university forum.

Per public administration, I have been working with the public and not for profit sectors for 25 years.  As an MPA student, I received recognition for completing the program in record time, was a "Student of the Year" nominee, was inducted in the national honor society (Pi Alpha Alpha), and worked for Ducks Unlimited, Inc (an internationally known conservation / hunting not for profit) in marketing at its headquarters in Memphis, TN.  I have studied City and Regional Planning and worked for the City of Germantown in multiple capacities while as a student.  I have held in the past memberships with leading public professional associations such as ASPA, ICMA, APA, NDIA, FOP, PMA, AMA, etc.

Per conservative ideologies, I am also very involved in my political community (was even a candidate for Mayor in past life – and am a supporter of the current Mayor which I declined to serve as his treasurer in order to focus on the strategy / execution of getting him elected in 2009), past President of my community's GOP Club, and current GOP treasurer/delegate of my district.  I am also an active supporter and advisor to conservative candidates, a developer of innovative community programs for policy making, leadership, and candidates, and  the founder of a national conservative movement.  In short, I  am a true “Reganite”, fan of the "Iron Lady", and of course someone who really likes “T.R.”.

Per economic development, I am the former VP of technology business development/consultant for our 16 county region and served as branding team member for establishing its iconic brand, past member of my local community's economic development committee including chairing of its first strategic plan.  I also served as a past consultant to my community's largest source of tax revenue....while developing and later implementing the strategy for saving a nearly condemned building which brought in millions of dollars of capital reinvestment.  This reinvestment served as THE catalyst of delivering the value proposition for 1). preventing the community from inheriting a condemned non revenue generating liability - converting it to an asset, 2). funding for a road extension yielding new retail opportunities while instantly bumping up property values, and 3).  establishing the perception to the business community that our town is now "open for business" which lead to the later attraction and then securing of a national grocery store and also a wholesale club to our community.

Per emergency preparedness & response, I developed and hosted the first regional roundtable for emergency preparedness professionals in  along with ASPA in addition to being a consistent keynote speaker on various preparedness topics at our region's preparedness fairs and roundtables.  Likewise, I have been recently featured in national publications such as The Marine Corps Times, Air Force Association Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and The Modesto Bee writing on the topics of law enforcement, military, and intelligence as locally and often in regional publications on various topics.  I am a past consultant to federal organizations on homeland security topics and "specialized" supply chains.

Per entrepreneurship, I happen to be also a serial entrepreneur who is founder of an international consulting firm that serves clients in technology (biotech, cleantech, infotech, nanotech), supply chain management, economic development (including federal law enforcement, national security, and defense organizations), and materials science in addition to being founder of a mass communications company, and also a lifestyle company (which focuses on adventure, outdoors, preparedness, conservation, hunting, etc.).  In addition, I also hold distinctions of being considered the "godfather / founder" of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Program at The University of Tennessee, one of our region's first "bloggers", and the past host of Wildfire America with Bill Johns, a radio program dedicated towards business, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Kennesaw Gun Law

Yes, I fit the "typology" of someone who supports the 2nd Amendment, but there is much more to know...
